We had a sea-front view from our quadruple room in the North Bay area. It was clean, with a nice big bathroom, and the hosts were lovely. Breakfast was really good, with a full English, vegetarian and lighter options, plus cereal. There’s also an honesty bar for drinks and snacks at other times, which is a great touch. Plenty of board games too, handy for a rainy day or an evening in. Would happily recommend it and stay again.

We had a lovely four-night New Year break and plan to come back in summer. The views were amazing and the location excellent. Our rooms were cosy and warm, and we had everything we needed. My parents’ room was just as good as ours. Breakfast was tasty and filling, and the owners were really helpful with ideas for places to go. Thanks for a great break.

I’ve been staying at the DERWENT for eight years and have already booked for next year. The rooms are first class, the hosts are brilliant and always ready to help, and the breakfast is the best in Scarborough. Honestly, once you’ve stayed here, you won’t want to go elsewhere. A fantastic place to stay in Scarborough.

This was our third year staying here, a week with my three children, including a baby, in Aug 2013. Everything was fantastic, from the room and breakfast to the service. They couldn’t do enough for us and nothing was too much trouble. Best Hotel in Scarborough, in my view. If you’re staying in Scarborough, you MUST stay at the DERWENT. We’ll book again for 2014. I promise you’ll enjoy every minute.

We broke down on the way and arrived late, but the owners stayed up waiting for us. They were amazingly friendly and helpful. Breakfast was gorgeous and really filling. Great guest house, and we’ll definitely come back. Thanks, derwent house .
