Bull Cottage

The art throughout The Bull Hotel gives it a distinctive feel, and the fires made it lovely to settle in with a bottle of red. It’s right on Burford’s high street, handy for browsing the shops and traditional tea rooms. Our room was clean and comfortable, with some nice premium drinks provided. Breakfast was included and we enjoyed it. We also had dinner at the hotel one night, with pleasant, attentive service and a great meal. A really enjoyable stay.

We started with a beer and a cocktail at the bar. Jake really knows his stuff and can make off-menu cocktails, so just ask. The decor and atmosphere are lovely from the moment you come in, and you can tell a lot of thought went into the place. Then Jack, Leanne and chef Ben made our time in Wild a real treat. It was great to hear about the food, watch it being cooked and enjoy the result. The service was brilliant and everyone made us feel special. Such a friendly place, we’ll be back.

The Venetian Suite made a lovely romantic setting, and breakfast the next morning was a great finish to our Valentine’s stay at The Bull Burford. The whole team made us feel looked after, and Jack, the General Manager, and Becky at reception were warm, attentive and professional from the start. The highlight was the seven-course Valentine’s menu from Head Chef Oliver Durnford and Ash. Each dish was creative, full of flavour, beautifully presented and carefully balanced. Oliver and Ash even came to our table to check how dinner was going. You could see their care and precision in every course. The service felt seamless and personal, like the whole team was working as one family to make the stay special. We couldn’t fault it and can’t wait to return. A five-star Cotswolds retreat.

The staff were helpful and friendly, and the whole stay felt relaxed. Our room was cosy and clean, in a comfortable hotel with plenty of character. The food was excellent, nicely cooked and full of flavour. We had a lovely time and would happily come back.
