The Victoria Hotel

The team is what makes The Victoria Hotel, or The Vic as we all know it, special. Whether you're visiting for the first time or have been coming for years, the staff treat people like family. You can tell they care about everyone who comes through the door. All generations love it, and Burnham-on-Sea is lucky to have the place. It wouldn't be what it is today without the landlord, Gary. There's always something bringing people together, from karaoke, charity events, and meat raffles throughout the year to popular local bands and musicians playing at weekends. The atmosphere gets lively. The food is incredible, well beyond typical pub fare, with thoughtfully prepared dishes, generous portions, and amazing value for money. The rooms are gorgeous, stylish, and modern too, so it's a great stay for locals or visitors. The recent refurb was done beautifully. It keeps the cosy, welcoming pub feel but gives the space a fresh, modern touch. From the moment you walk in, there's a warmth that makes you feel at home. An absolute gem of a place.

The rooms have been transformed, they're cosy and luxurious now, and I'd definitely recommend a stay. The menu has improved too, with delicious choices for everyone, vegans included. Since the refurb, the pub, lounge, rooms, and menu have all been upgraded. It's a great pub with an awesome atmosphere, and the staff are welcoming and friendly. I'll be back!

I tried the new breakfast menu and loved the decor too. The staff were friendly as always. My pancakes were amazing, really fluffy, and came with proper thick bacon, not the thin streaky kind. My husband's bacon roll looked great, with three or four pieces of thick cooked bacon in a brioche bun. It's good to see somewhere new and affordable in burnham doing breakfast. Absolutely amazing, we'll be back asap.

The roast dinners were very good, and the meat was cooked perfectly. The food was lovely. We went on a Sunday, though, and service was very, very slow, whether people were eating or just having drinks. There was only one waitress for the whole pub and one person behind the bar, so people waited around 20 minutes to order food or get drinks. I think having more staff on Sundays might make things run more efficiently.
