I was in the area for business meetings the next day and was really taken by this tucked-away place near Burnley and Nelson. Check-in was friendly and helpful, and the restaurant meal was exceptional. I'd love to come back for a Sunday roast. The room was modern and clean, with everything I needed for the night. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom and shower were great. Thanks to the staff, chef and bar team. I'd definitely recommend it and will return.

All the staff were attentive, and the service and food were great. We arrived an hour before our booking, but they still found us a table. When a waiter spotted that one of our beers was flat, he replaced it without making a fuss.

Our dog was welcomed, and the disabled access was very good. We came with family for a birthday on Sunday 1st March, and everyone enjoyed the meal they'd chosen. There was a great choice of food and drinks, with brilliant service all round. We'll definitely come again. Thanks to all the staff.

The building and its surroundings are lovely, which made this third visit all the more disappointing. We'd booked for the busy Bank Holiday, but waited 75 minutes for starters. The waiter who showed us to our table was stern and made us feel like a nuisance. The waitress was lovely, though, and seemed embarrassed by how things were going. We were told the delay was caused by the crowds and walk-ins seated outside, which left me feeling that people who'd booked weren't the priority. My No Duck Taco starter was far too large and had so much hoisin sauce I couldn't finish it. Several of our original choices weren't available, including sandwiches. The main courses were mediocre at best: one lasagne was burnt, and the waiter called it 'a very well-done lasagna, nice and crispy' to make light of it. My chicken kiev barely tasted of garlic and came with half a plate of peas and green beans. The food was very disappointing for the high price. It's a lovely place, but each visit seems worse than the last, and I can't understand all the good reviews. I feel for the staff, apart from the man who 'welcomed' us. I wouldn't bother going.
