Rosehill House Hotel

We were impressed by the building’s vintage feel and beautiful look. It’s in a lovely, quiet spot tucked just off a main road. Our executive room had separate beds and was much nicer than we expected. It was clean and lovely, with a comfortable bed and a private back door onto a little outdoor space. I imagine that spot is lovely to sit in during summer. The staff were helpful and very polite, especially at breakfast. Thanks to the hardworking service team for the warm smiles and friendly welcome. I’d definitely stay again. It was a brilliant experience, and this will be my choice next time I’m staying over.

We had a meal with friends in a beautiful Victorian setting, full of original features and decorated for Christmas with fairy lights, foliage, and a roaring fire. The service was fantastic. And the food was just wow. The duck starter was divine, the venison main was perfect, though you should order sides, and the dessert was the best I’ve ever tasted. Everyone in my group agreed. There are lots of gluten-free options too. Definitely recommend.

I booked online for mid-September, but the hotel emailed to explain there was a wedding party that weekend, the place might be busy, and the restaurant was fully booked. They offered to move us to a quieter part of the hotel or let us cancel. I chose to cancel, but appreciated their honesty. They could’ve said nothing and kept the booking, so they get 10/10 for customer service. I’ll look to book next time I’m in the area. I gave the rooms a rating of 1 because I didn’t stay and can’t comment on them. It isn’t a reflection of the rooms.

We’ve stayed here four times and loved coming back. It’s a great value, older hotel, built in 1856, with a lovely interior from days gone by. My wife and I found that a rare treat. If bland, forgettable modern concrete hotels are your thing, this may not suit you. We stayed four days for my brother’s funeral, and Rosehill made a difficult time much more pleasant and relaxing. The room was lovely, with a separate lounge area, and we also had a family get-together in the large conservatory. Breakfast was enjoyable, and the evening steak was so good I had to send compliments to the chef. The serving staff were top notch and very friendly. Thanks to Emma, Graham, and the staff for finding room for us despite the bookings. We really appreciate everything you did.
