Carvetii - Borthwick House - Ground floor flat

The harbour and Arthur Seat views from this location were lovely, but the flat had many problems and wasn’t as described. Finding it was difficult: it’s on a pedestrian-only street, hidden from the road, and despite the listing, there was no private entrance. When we arrived, Graham had seemed very happy to help, but after we got inside and found the place reeked of smoke and beer, I contacted him and got no reply. We don’t drink or smoke, so that smell was disgusting. The flat needs serious maintenance. There were holes in the floorboards under the carpet, and the lounge door threshold was bent and damaged, causing problems. The bathroom extractor fan was clogged and very loud, over 60 dB, and noise from the people upstairs made it impossible to sleep. It wasn’t worth the money. He wouldn’t refund us, and we felt ripped off and left high and dry. If we’d had a choice, we wouldn’t have stayed.
