RICHARD B.
A really good little B&B. I was welcomed warmly when I checked in, and my room was clean, comfortable and had everything I needed. The shower was great too. Breakfast was just as described: fruit juice, cereal bars or flapjack, and a muffin. I’d happily stay again, and I’m surprised by some of the less positive reviews here.

I should have checked the reviews first and realized this B&B is a separate business from the pub restaurant. The pub doesn’t have rooms of its own, so a booking through its website puts you here. In short, there’s no hot breakfast option because the pub is closed in the morning, and everything in the room feels cheap and small. There’s a Travelodge nearby for half the price, and this B&B isn’t better.

The room is small for what it costs and needs updating. There were hairs in the bathroom, which was cleaned after I complained. The B&B isn’t connected to the pub, so don’t assume there’ll be food. In January, there was none on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. The B&B site didn’t say this, though the pub website did, which I hadn’t checked. A meal was made when three people wanted food, but it was basic and average, nothing like the pub photos. Dustmen and a beer delivery woke me at 7:30. I emailed the owner and was told that was an acceptable time to wake someone because I’d had enough sleep. That says it all, really. I’ll use the Travelodge up the road next time.

Great staff, a lovely room and a really nice village. There’s a brilliant village pub downstairs too. Definitely recommend it!

The breakfast box was just orange juice and three snacks. The advert says you can order a cooked breakfast, but the place downstairs doesn’t offer one now. I couldn’t get an evening meal either, as the kitchen shut at 4pm and the bar at 8pm. There was WiFi, but I couldn’t find the password anywhere. I paid £85 for a dirty room that looked nothing like the quaint country style in the ads. There were no curtains, just holes in the wall where the pole had been. In the bathroom, a dirty flannel was stuffed into a dirty glass. The shower needed a proper bleach, but I couldn’t use it anyway: even after running it for five minutes, the water was only just lukewarm. I could have paid £35 at the nearby Travelodge for the same experience, and I’d at least expect hot water there.
