Our room, Kenelm, was decorated to a high standard, exceptionally clean and had everything we needed. Hannah and her team should be congratulated. After the races, we had a lovely stay. The pub was great, with a lovely big garden, and dinner was good. All the staff were friendly and professional. My only complaint was that the boiler issue meant no hot water, and the room was hot. I'd definitely return.

The puddings were 10/10, and the roast dinner was okay, though the roast potatoes could have done with longer in the oven. The service was so poor: we waited five minutes to be greeted and shown to our table, then over 10 minutes for someone to offer drinks. In the end I walked to the bar to order them. Even then, we waited again before someone brought them over. We were excited to have a lovely lunch, but it was a letdown.

We only stopped in to meet friends for lunch. There was a good range of food at reasonable prices, including simple two or three course lunches for a fair price. The dining and bar areas were nice, with a good drink selection. Staff in the dining and bar area were friendly and efficient.

We booked an evening meal for three on March 18th. The decor was lovely and the atmosphere pleasant, with plenty of tables free throughout our visit. We were greeted on arrival and shown straight to our table. Our waiter (F) was friendly and gave good service, and when we raised our food concerns he said he'd inform the kitchen. Still, we left disappointed with both the quality and quantity. The chicken curry Kiev had good flavour but was rubbery and hard around the edges. I'd asked for crispy bacon on my burger, but it was almost dehydrated, and the bun was hard around the edges too. The vegetable casserole was only tepid, and the fruit crumble was cold. The cheeseboard cost £14, which felt far too much for three small pieces of cheese, about 1.5 Dairylea triangles, with frozen grapes and chutney. I'm not sure if any of these problems came from food being reheated in a microwave.

The decor is great, and we’ve usually loved coming here. This time, though, all four of us were unhappy with both the starters and mains, despite enjoying the food on previous visits. We didn’t feel like ordering dessert. Service was just as disappointing: staff were busy chatting, so I had to get up and ask someone to take our order. It also seemed like nobody was in charge.
