Lou and Paul have been great hosts at this historic village pub for the past 20 years. I first drank here about 42 years ago, when it was a proper real ale country pub. There are gardens full of different plants and plenty of parking. I stayed in a room for a week. The internet seemed a bit slow, and the TV was temperamental. They offered me another room, but I turned it down because those things weren't that important to me. The wildlife outside my window was a real show, and the pheasant made a fine alarm clock. I only had breakfast, which set me up well for the day: toast with real butter, sausages, bacon, beans and perfectly fried eggs every morning. The mushrooms had an unusual amount of flavour, so I don't think they were standard supermarket ones. And was used in Dad's Army. If you're after a remote country stay, check it out.

The garden setting is lovely, the service was great, and the food was amazing. I especially recommend the Thai curry.

The owner treated an elderly disabled couple appallingly and threw them out for asking for another heater because their room was cold. Disgusting behaviour. Don't give people like that your money.

This little inn is cosy, fascinating and tucked away in a perfect rural spot. The meals we had were freshly cooked and delicious, and every member of staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and adequate, with the usual tea and coffee facilities, and the bed was very comfortable. Parking was easy. It's also well placed for exploring Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridge and the northern edge of Essex.

We slept well in a lovely location, with really friendly staff. Breakfast was lovely too, and we'd come back again.
