We had a brilliant stay at Manor Cottage with friends, and it worked really well for our group of 8 couples. Everyone had a comfortable bedroom with an en-suite. The kitchen was large and fully equipped, and we ate in every night around the big dining table, with some lovely evenings together. The kitchen window had spectacular views. We also walked through beautiful countryside and cycled the Monsal Trail and Tissington Trail.

We booked this glorious cottage as a secret getaway for our son's 30th. It had everything we could want, and the sunrise was worth getting up for. If I'm being picky, a downstairs toilet would be useful. For a celebration, get Ollie Parnell to cook for you. That was a real highlight of the week.

The garden was fantastic, with lovely views and a relaxed seating area. Inside, the cottage was pleasant, with a cosy living room, though the chairs weren't very comfortable, especially if you're short-legged. The large kitchen had room for a big group around the table, and every room had its own bathroom, with some en-suite. Our bed's mattress felt very soft and tired, and could do with replacing.

The cottage made a good base for touring the Peaks, Matlock, Bakewell, Buxton, Chesterfield and elsewhere, and the rear views were lovely. The garden was small, and the side gate bars were far enough apart that it didn't feel safe for small dogs. We enjoyed a few meals outdoors on the good quality barbecue, and spent cosy evenings by the woodburner. The bedroom had little storage, just a few hangers and no wardrobe, and its sloping ceiling made getting in and out of bed awkward. Bathrooms were fine and clean, as was the fairly spacious kitchen with plenty of worktop, though the pots, pans and utensils were in poor condition. Three cars could park comfortably, but the cottage sits right beside a fairly busy, noisy road. Overall, it was good accommodation and a useful holiday base.

A lovely cottage, very posh and comfortable. It was spotless, with decor finished to a really high standard.
