We had so much cake that we even took some home, and the prices felt really fair. My friend has a couple of severe allergies, and No6 handled them beautifully. Everything tasted fresh, the selection was lovely and the staff were even lovelier. We visited for afternoon tea and have been talking about it all day. We'll come back next time we're in Buxton, and we'll recommend it to friends, family and anyone reading this.

Our guests kept raving about the food and the whole event. The catering was exactly what we'd hoped for, and then some. No.6 made a stunning setting for our wedding reception, reflecting Buxton's distinctive heritage in the beautiful High-Peak of North Derbyshire. The team were welcoming, professional and lovely, and everything ran like clockwork. We'd recommend ‘No.6 The Tearooms’ to anyone wanting an intimate venue in a beautiful setting any day of the week. We'll definitely return for an anniversary. Thanks!

There was plenty of seating, and everything was clean. The staff were friendly and had things well organised. We enjoyed the good quality food and brilliant range of cakes. It was our first visit, but we'll be back.

The room inside was lovely, and the staff were polite and attentive, but the food was a real letdown. My partner ordered the breakfast ciabatta for £9.95 and got one piece of bacon, an egg, a catering sausage on a white roll, and one hash brown, despite the menu saying hash browns on the side. The ingredients were poor quality. My goats cheese quiche seemed packet made, not homemade. The cakes looked good, and we saw other people ordering scones. With a greenking across the road that may sell food of similar quality for much less, I'd suggest trying there or the pavilion. Nice surroundings and staff, shame about the food.

The cakes were nice, but there was only one pavlova for the two of us. The scones were huge and awful, dense, salty and dry, like a lump of brown bread with jam and cream, though the raisins stopped me mistaking them for plain bread. Our sandwiches were too thickly filled, and came with one half white bread and one half brown. They didn't taste right, and staff should ask which bread people prefer. I didn't get a chance to mention any of this because nobody checked whether things were okay. It was busy, but that's no excuse. I still paid £54, which didn't feel worth it, and I won't return or recommend it. I'd travelled a long way and booked well ahead, hoping for a lovely afternoon tea before a show at the Opera House. At first I was seated in the service area, where staff kept passing back and forth and people paid at the till in front of the counter, even though the restaurant also has a lovely lounge and a cosier, more rural-themed area. After I was moved, the tea arrived. Afternoon tea should be an experience, not just food, especially at that price.
