Black Lion Hotel

Demi deserves a special mention for being so courteous, helpful, and professional throughout my stay. Her friendly, attentive manner made a real difference. Elle was welcoming and efficient at breakfast, and Jake cooked a high quality, well presented meal. Micheala, the landlady, also deserves credit for running such a well managed, welcoming place. Her professionalism and warm presence show in the hotel’s standards. The Black Lion Hotel was comfortable and well maintained, with clean rooms and clear attention to detail. From arrival to departure, service was organized and welcoming. Breakfast was excellent, and the overall atmosphere suits both business and leisure stays. I’d gladly recommend it and stay again.

I didn’t stay this time, but the five stars for the rooms are based on earlier visits. We spent a few hours here, and Demi looked after us really well. We ordered some tricky drinks, and she got them exactly right with a smile. She’s great. The location, service, and friendly staff are always amazing.

The surprise birthday party worked perfectly. My family had booked the function room, and the staff were in on it without giving anything away when I arrived. The buffet was delicious, and when we started helping to put the room back at the end of the evening, they insisted they’d sort it and told us not to worry. They even wished me a happy birthday. The atmosphere was just right, and if the buffet is anything to go by, I’ll be back to try a meal. Well done, Black lion.

The room was clean, warm, and lovely, with plenty of hot water, and the staff were friendly. We had a nice meal in the bar when we arrived. The only letdown was breakfast: the streaky bacon was barely cooked, and we’d have preferred back bacon. The rest was deep fried and overcooked. We’d stay again, but might stick to cereal and toast next time.
