Travelodge Scotch Corner Skeeby

The beds were great and the room was clean, so I slept well. It was a nice, quiet spot, and the staff were great. Cheers, DJ and Josh. What more do you need?

There isn't anywhere to eat or get a drink on site beyond a vending machine, so plan for that if you're arriving late or don't have a car. The hotel is on a long, busy road that's very dark, with no nearby facilities that feel safe to reach on foot. The petrol station is close, but the road layout means you can't walk there. My ground floor room, number 12, was spacious, clean and comfortable, though pretty basic. Tea and coffee were in the room, and it was handy to get refills at reception. Check-in was straightforward, and most of the staff were friendly and helpful. Heavy rain during my stay caused the gutter outside my window to overflow and get noisy. There was also maintenance work right outside, so I couldn't really leave the window or curtains open, and the noise began fairly early in the morning. It was a clean, decent budget place to use as a base if you're driving, but less convenient without transport or if you want dining on site.

There's no restaurant, and nowhere to eat within walking distance. The garage and services are a five-minute drive away. Skeeby has a nice pub with great food, about seven minutes by car.

The only downside was the smell when the neighbouring farmer spread manure on his field that week. I assume it was necessary, but I had to keep the windows shut. The room had an amazing fan, though. Reception staff were really helpful, especially Vaughn, who lent me an iPhone charger cable and plug. I've returned them. The Travelodge is handy for Richmond, and there's a Shell garage shop a short walk away. I thoroughly recommend Skeeby Travelodge.
