After a walk, my boyfriend and I stopped in for an early dinner. We treated ourselves to a pint of zero guiness and a cider, then had two steaks and ale pies. They were the best we've ever had, with lovely flavour. The barman was welcoming too. Thank you!

The Horse & Jockey feels like it's moving in a great direction under new management, with the team putting care and effort into positive changes. It's a proper local free house with a friendly atmosphere and a strong community feel. A great place to stop while exploring the area, whether for a quick bite or a well-earned pint after one of the scenic walks. It's welcoming if you're passing through or spending the day in the Peak District.

The beef shoulder was incredible, compliments to the chef. It’s a lovely little pub, with plenty to do nearby, and Spencer looked after us with loads of energy and was always glad to help.

We had a great time celebrating our birthdays here. There are different spots to sit, plus a pool table and darts, and Lera was so kind and accommodating. The atmosphere was lovely, and we’d definitely come back if we’re in the area.

When a power cut hit, they were really helpful, calling nearby pubs to see if we could get food elsewhere and offering recommendations. The pub itself is cosy, welcoming, and dog-friendly.
