The lounges are as grand as those in a five-star hotel, and the building itself is amazing and full of history. The staff were cheerful and professional. Lots of guests seem to be out trekking and walking. In February we came back with really muddy shoes, so it would be great to have somewhere to clean and wash dirty clothes and footwear. Thank you.

In room 31, the twin, I slept soundly to the rain and crows or rooks outside, nature's white noise. Breakfast had a lovely atmosphere with a group of youngsters having a great time. I heard there were complaints about their bustle from some guests, but come on, it's YOUTH! At the YHA places I've stayed, the young people rightly get priority. See you soon. As someone over 50, I was truly excited to discover the stamp book. Thank you!

The breakfast is well worth having, it set us up nicely for a day of hiking. The grounds are gorgeous and there's enough parking. The rooms were clean, with a sink in each, and the beds were comfortable. When we asked for a heater because the radiator wasn't working, one arrived straight away. Bathroom facilities were satisfactory. The walls are very thin, though, and we could clearly hear people talking in the room next door.

Great location and good on-site food. The staff are especially helpful and caring. Rooms are functional and fair, though mattress comfort seems to be pot luck.

Me, my wife and our son had a great time at Hartington. The building is many years old but still kept up well, and our clean, tidy room was nice and warm. There's a shared kitchen with all the basic appliances, and the location is good. Worth it 👏👏👏.
