Samuel cottage

A hideaway terrace sits beyond the first field by the river, tucked behind a hedge where you can enjoy the sunshine. From the terrace outside the cottage, you can see Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa), and the fields in front are great for exercising a dog. The sheep were away while we were there, so we had the river and greenery to ourselves. The cottage is well off the beaten track, which is exactly the point if you're after peace in a beautiful setting. Its thick stone walls give it a warm, welcoming feel, especially the spacious bedroom. Owner Olwen makes sure you have what you need and is a great host, always ready with trip suggestions. It's also a good base for exploring the area. We visited the castles at Caernafon and Harlech, Porthmadog, Abersoch, Criccieth, Pwellhi, and went over to Anglesey. We'll definitely return. The bed was really comfortable, with lovely floral bedding and curtains. The cottage is in a wonderfully peaceful spot, and the loo flushes very well. The shower is powerful. Olwen, the proprietor, knows the area well, so it's worth having a chat with her.

The cottage has a log fire, and the bed is the most comfortable I've slept in. It's near the train and about a 15 minute walk to the bus stop into Caernarfon. Geriant and Olwen are lovely. This was our fifth visit in June 2017, and we'll be back. We love staying here, as always.
