The apple crumble with cinnamon custard was lovely, and we all enjoyed it. Four of us went for Sunday carvery, and the food was very nice. It was heaving, but there were a few service issues: the first waitress took our order and didn't come back, and my husband had to go to the bar to get lime added to my lager and lime after I found none in it. One lady found a star anise in her mouth, and a gentleman had some sort of stalks about two inches long. We told the waitress, who apologized but couldn't say what they were. Just a few honest pointers, I don't want to sound like a moaning ninny.

The breakfast included was superb and nicely served, and the staff were friendly and welcoming, showing us to our room. It was good value, with a massive TV that you can use Netflix on. The tea, coffee and biscuits were lovely touches, and seeing horses on site was a bonus. We would definitely stay again. My only issues were that the restaurant next door was very pricey, though we could have gone elsewhere, and it would help to have instructions for using the fire in the room.

The £10 per person deal was fantastic, with plenty of good food and great service. They were happy to help with special requests, too. We had an amazing New Year's Eve and hope they run it again next year. Well done 👍

Sunday booking is a must, but it's worth it. There's a great range of delicious roasts and the vegetables are amazing. I've been several times and will keep coming back.

We only visited the restaurant, not the accommodation. On arrival we were told there were no burgers or pizza, so we tried other dishes instead. Nearly an hour later, the food arrived, greasy spoon style, though even that would have been nicer. Some was overcooked and some undercooked, yet we were charged full price.
