The Snowdon Inn - Y Fricsan

The river was beautiful, and we had a slow paddle through the lake and river on the site's three-seater canoe. You could also bring a paddleboard or kayak. The owner was friendly and gave us useful information, and it's dog friendly too. Even fully booked, the pitches are spaced far enough apart to feel private. The only small drawback was the walk to the toilets and showers, which got a bit annoying at night. Bring a decent torch.

Ted was great and supplied firewood for our campfire. We had incredible views and could paddleboard or wild swim straight from our pitch. There are two showers, two toilets and a roomy washing-up area. I liked that the areas around the pitches were left wild, which is good for the environment and gave us more privacy. We had an amazing stay at Snowdon Inn Campsite and will definitely return. The pizza place at the top of the road was amazing too, with gluten-free and vegan choices. Highly recommend!

For £10 a night, this is the best campsite in the region. It has all you need, and Ted is lovely. He leaves you to yourself but is only a couple of minutes away if needed. We enjoyed a swim and using the canoe. There's just one plug socket, so bring a good power bank or think about how you'll charge an e-bike. We'll definitely come back, couldn't fault it here!

The site is basic, with just two electric hook-ups, I think, but the pitches are lovely and private in meadows of long grass. There’s a wild swimming pool on site and a beautiful walk through to Lamberis lake. On certain nights, there are homemade pizzas, made while you wait, and they’re absolutely lovely and very reasonably priced. There's also a little kebab stall at the entrance. I paid £10 a night for an adult and £5 per child per night.
