The room at Fairways Guest House was cosy and felt like home. I was under a lot of emotional stress, but managed to get some proper rest before heading back to the hospital. Since I live in Peterborough and didn’t know the area, that comfort meant a lot, especially while my husband was in critical condition. I’d explained to the kind, considerate staff member who confirmed my booking that I couldn’t arrive at 4 pm because I was still at the hospital after my husband’s surgery. She said I could collect the key until 9 pm, and reassured me I could call if I couldn’t get there by then, as they also stayed at the hotel. I really appreciated her kindness on such a difficult day. I was very happy with my stay. They made me feel comfortable and supported, and showed real sympathy.

There’s plenty of parking at the back, though the alley is a tight squeeze to drive through. My single room was quiet, comfortable and just right for a quick business trip. The bedding and towels were great, and the shower was warm and powerful. I accidentally left my charger behind, and they kept it for me. There’s also a nice cafe on the same street with lots of custom sandwich and drink choices.

The host greeted me warmly and promptly, and the place was easy to find. There’s plenty of free parking on site, and it’s close to a few shops and pubs, not far from the city centre. My room was passable, with a single bed and TV. The pillows were a little thin, and there wasn’t a spare in the cupboard. The bathroom was shared. Still, the room was clean and warm, with fresh sheets. I’d stay again.

Tracy was really friendly and helpful, and she put fresh cookies and hot drink supplies in the room each day. It felt a bit like staying with a relative who’s especially good at looking after guests. I had a very pleasant stay, though I wished there’d been a microwave in the room, and it’s a bit of a walk to the station.

We had a front room and heard no road noise, which was fantastic. The accommodation was clean and spacious, with a nice bathroom and parking on site. It’s about a 25-minute walk to central Cambridge, though there are several restaurants and a couple of pubs nearby.
