The Waterman

We stopped in for an English breakfast and were pleasantly surprised by how good it was. The portion was generous, the price was good, and it tasted great. The staff member serving us was warm and friendly. Excellent value, and I’d happily go again.

The pub had a lovely buzz when we arrived around 2pm, and by the time we left, a football game was on TV and the place was electric. Great to see a pub doing so well. Keep it up. We came on Sunday for a family roast and will definitely return. I had the beef, cooked nice and pink, just right, with a generous serving of roast potatoes and veg. The Yorkshire pudding was large and rustic. The bearded gentleman who served us, whose name I didn’t catch, was friendly, helpful with recommendations, and provided table service, which was a nice touch.

We had a delicious dinner on our first night, then breakfast on the last day before catching the train. We hadn’t booked breakfast for our four-night stay, but the food was good. The room and bed were very comfortable, and surprisingly quiet even though our window looked onto the beer garden. Staff gave us a warm welcome and were friendly throughout. There was always a greeting when we came back after a day out, and the pub and restaurant had a great atmosphere. The location was ideal and the stay was great value. I’d recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Cambridge.

At The Waterman, you can settle into a nook, join a long table and meet people, or come with friends and family to watch the game. There’s room for you whether you’re here with kids or not, though it’s definitely a pub. On a major street in gorgeous Cambridge, the building’s distinctive architecture and masses of flowers catch your eye first. Look through one of the dark blue leaded-glass windows and it feels immediately cozy. The Waterman is ready for a good visit.
