Front desk staff were excellent and friendly. The restaurant team were warm, but seemed disorganized, and food could take a while despite the limited menu. The buffet breakfast was a little disappointing for a hotel aiming for luxury. Having afternoon tea in the library was a nice touch. My room had the business travel basics, including a safe, tea and coffee station, and iron. The glass shower screen kept swinging in on me, and I used one of the ‘paint tube’ soaps to prop it open. In this day and age, even a ‘luxury’ hotel should use bathroom dispensers to cut waste. The whole hotel was too warm; the air con only went down to 19°C, though luckily the window opened. The location was OK. Cambridge isn’t very big, so you’re never far from anything. I parked at a park and ride for £30 for 72 hours instead of paying £40 a day at the hotel. The bus made the trip back and forth easy.

We had another great stay over the bank holiday weekend. The room was bright, comfortable and well equipped, with plenty of storage, tea, coffee and biscuits. The bathroom had heated floors and a good shower. There were some visible carpet marks, and possibly no fridge in the room, but those were minor details. Breakfast had a solid selection of pastries, fruit and hot food, although omelettes cost extra and there weren’t many fillings. The location is excellent, about a 15-minute walk from the station and handy for Cambridge’s main attractions, restaurants, bars and shops. The hotel has lots of character, and the staff are consistently professional and friendly. Check-in was smooth, and they recognized my Marriott status and upgraded us to a park-view room. We slept very well and would happily return.

The gym was above average for UK hotels, which matters to me since I travel a lot for work. It’s a great hotel, with lovely design and clean rooms stocked with bathroom products, coffee, tea and biscuits. The breakfast bar was good, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I’d absolutely stay here again.

The location made our extended stay easy, between the station and Cambridge’s lively centre, with restaurants, shops and historic pubs just a short walk away. My husband and I had recently moved to Cambridge and booked University Arms Hotel, Autograph Collection for just over 30 days while looking for a home. What began as a practical arrangement became a stay we’ll truly cherish. We felt welcome from the moment we arrived, more like residents than guests. My husband is a Marriott Bonvoy Lifetime Titanium Elite member with more than 1,550 nights over two decades, and he’s stayed in some of the world’s finest hotels. He can be discerning, so it says a lot that this stay exceeded our expectations. The team made the difference. Everyone went out of their way to help us feel at home. Toby and Charles from the concierge team were outstanding, knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and their help with the challenges of relocating was invaluable. Toby’s advice was so useful he could rival a professional letting agent. The front desk was consistently warm, attentive and efficient, and nothing felt like too much trouble. I’d like to thank everyone, even if I can’t name each person. The office team’s work behind the scenes helped everything run smoothly. Maggie was especially responsive and went the extra mile, which we really appreciated. Housekeeping kept our room impeccably clean, refreshed and well provisioned throughout the long stay. Their care and attention made everyday life more comfortable. Restaurant and bar staff were fantastic too. Whether we stopped in for breakfast or an evening drink, their professionalism, attention to detail and warm hospitality made us feel looked after. We’d gladly recommend University Arms for a short visit or a longer stay, and hope to return.

A quaint, high-quality hotel with fantastic service and a great location. It fits Cambridge perfectly, with nice big rooms and decoration that suits the hotel’s history and setting. I’d love to stay again. My only quibble is that I wish the air con had more settings.
