Black Pig

My wife and I really like this pub, but we couldn't get her inside. The front entrance isn't good, and the supposed wheelchair access from the garden at the back doesn't work for powered wheelchairs. We tried portable ramps and a friend's help, with no luck. I asked months ago for a disabled parking space on the forecourt, but the landlord hasn't bothered to provide one. A proper ramp at the back would make access possible. Will it ever happen? Unlikely. Realistically, the landlord may not see the point of proper access or parking when so few people use wheelchairs. It's a great shame.

Friendly service, a good choice of drinks, and very tasty liver with bacon and onions. I'd definitely eat here again.

We were so lucky to find The Black Pig for our wedding reception, and we're grateful to the whole team for making it such a great day. Reece helped us with everything, from the food and outside suppliers to the schedule and our expectations. He even came back to help clear the marquee the next morning. Nothing was too much trouble, and the garden marquee went to plan. We chose an Italian-inspired two-course meal, and Reece put together a lovely menu with porchetta, salmon and chicken involtini. Guests loved the food, especially the puddings. The cheesecake was a big hit, and we also heard lovely comments about the evening pizza, pasta and salad buffet. It was a welcome change from the usual dull wedding roasts. Lauren and the bar team handled food and drinks with real professionalism throughout. They even brought in cocktails so I could have a Pina Colada at my wedding. The cocktails were unreal, and our guests kept saying how wonderful the staff were. Whenever we needed something, someone made it happen. We live around the corner from this beautiful pub and couldn't be more thankful for everything the team did.

We all ordered different dishes, the four adults and two children, and every meal was made with outstanding ingredients and cooked fantastically. I especially recommend the locally sourced pork chop with mustard mash, cabbage and apple. The service was exceptional, and both the staff and local guests made us feel at ease as soon as we arrived. They were accommodating from my first call that afternoon, even when I phoned again to move our reservation earlier. We had a great family meal while stopping nearby. If I'm back in the area, I'll definitely come again. Thanks to everyone.
