The only bright spot was one very good waitress. Everything else was incredibly disappointing. The room was either too hot or too cold, the TV had just three badly tuned channels, and the safe was locked. The sockets didn't work, so we couldn't charge our phones or make a hot drink, and the shower head was so clogged with limescale that water wouldn't spray properly. Thin walls meant we could hear everything from the adjoining rooms. The decor looked untouched since the 1980s or 1990s. At £125 for a double room, this hotel on Canterbury's outskirts felt overpriced, especially with better options much nearer the centre. Before we arrived, nobody answered the phone for weeks or returned my message. At check-in after 3 pm and again at 9:30 am checkout, no one was at reception, and we waited ten minutes each time for someone to show up.

The beds were great, and I liked the room, breakfast and helpful staff. It isn't that expensive either. I was really tired, so I didn't walk around much, but I'd definitely stay here again if I'm in the area. Thanks for the warm welcome.

We took home six boxes of cakes and scones after our afternoon tea, which says something about how much food there was. The scones and cakes came in generous numbers, and the meat and vegetarian sandwiches were so well made that we voted them the best we'd ever had at afternoon tea. Our table for nine adults and two babies or toddlers looked lovely with its decorations and crackers, and there was plenty of tea. The staff were lovely, everything was nicely presented, and our whole group had a magical time. Visitors from Dubai and Germany were with us and will go home with great memories. Less than £30 per adult felt fair. In our opinion, it's a hidden gem and worth the return trip. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

The food was adequate, and the staff were helpful apart from the lack of warning about the noise and how they handled my complaint. We booked expecting a quiet, peaceful stay because the hotel is out of town, but our room sat right above the function suite. For four hours we heard disco music, screaming partygoers and every word of the DJ's banter. It was so loud that watching TV was pointless, reading was difficult, and sleep didn't come until after midnight. Staff hadn't warned us. When I raised it in the morning, I was told the hotel was full and no one could be moved. I now understand it promotes itself as a local wedding and event venue. If you want a peaceful weekend, I'd avoid this place.

The shower pressure was so weak that the rain outside felt stronger. Still, the place itself is amazing and the food superb. Stacey😋 was the star, incredibly attentive and brilliant, especially with the Jack & Cokes 😂. All the staff were cheerful and professional. I'd definitely recommend it!
