The Falstaff Hotel

The staff were lovely and so helpful, and the decor felt cosy and comfortable. Our room was well furnished and cosy too. The river and town centre were close by, which we loved. Breakfast was a good offering, with a small buffet and warm cooked breakfast options, though it wasn’t baked or cooked on site. We really enjoyed the happy hour!

The location worked perfectly for my visit to a production at the Marlowe Theatre, about a five-minute walk from both the station and theatre. The man at reception was friendly and efficient when I checked in. My room was in a separate building across the parking area, which was no trouble. It was lovely, and both the bedroom and bathroom were a good size. The only minor drawback was the fixed shower head, which poured water out rather than spraying it. That wouldn’t stop me staying at the Falstaff again. If noise affects your sleep, bring earplugs. The windows are old sash windows, and road traffic may disturb you if your room faces the road.

The junior suite was spacious and spotless, in a separate building just behind the main site. The bathroom had lots of hot water and good pressure, so the shower was great. The place looks well maintained, with good decor throughout, and the breakfast staff were friendly and helpful. Excellent location and plenty of parking, though the payment setup is fussy: online, and only for 24 hours at a time. Recommended.

The location on the main street was great, and the staff were lovely. The room was cute, and the bed and pillows were so comfortable that I slept well, except for noise from revellers and/or what sounded like barrels being moved. Guests also get a happy hour, which was a nice bonus.
