Esme looked after us really well, and the chef behind the pizza oven was cooking. Definitely deserved a Madri. I had a hot boy and thought it was fantastic. My brother said, and I quote, “this is the best burger I’ve ever had in my life”. He didn’t say that lightly. We came for our monthly sibbie (sibling) dinner and found a new favourite. This was banging from start to finish. I loved it, it was so great YES.

The food has been exceptional on all five of our visits to The Red Lion, and we drive 25 minutes to get here. The team are always moving around the restaurant and bar, and the service is outstanding. There’s a nice atmosphere, with a choice of the bar or restaurant for dining. Tonight we were booked into the middle bar area with young children, and the team were very accommodating. The roasts are divine, the lamb was the best I’ve had in a while, and when the pizza is available it’s fresh and homemade. You can hear the kitchen and front-of-house communicating to keep service running smoothly. We can’t find fault and highly recommend it.

The sirloin roasts and dessert were beautifully cooked and presented, and the traditional pub atmosphere was pleasant. We were there for Sunday lunch, with group bookings ranging from two to six people arriving while we ate. It was our first visit, and booking online was easy. Parking in the pub’s adjacent car park was easy too. The landlady, I think her name was Claire, greeted us over the bar. She was warm, chatty and seemed very on top of things. The waiting staff were friendly and attentive, and everyone seemed to know their job and get on with it quietly. We’ve recommended the place to friends and family. Thank you.

The rooms were nicely decorated and comfortable during my work trip. The food was good enough to make the 150-plus-mile journey back on my own time worthwhile. I’ll return to try more of the menu.

The food was excellent from breakfast through lunch and dinner, with generous portions and everything tasting great. We stayed for two nights, and the room was excellent, with a perfect bathroom and an ideal wet room for my wife, who uses a wheelchair. Staff were very helpful and attentive, even when the bar was busy. I’d recommend a visit, especially for the food.
