The service was lovely and I can’t fault the hosts, and the location is beautiful. But the food was a real disappointment. My partner said the beef Sunday roast was okay. My vegan roast had miso gravy that tasted like water, unseasoned roast potatoes, bland vegetables and tiny portions. I’m not exaggerating, there were two small roast potatoes and about a tablespoon of vegetables each. I’d had high hopes, but left disappointed and still hungry. We spent over £100 on three roasts and drinks. Please stop serving that miso gravy, it wastes your time and our hard-earned money. It shouldn’t take much to make a vegetable gravy that tastes good. Increase the portions and season the food. Rosemary and garlic would make the roast potatoes much better. At over £20 per roast, a little more care would go a long way. I genuinely think the high ratings may come from loyal locals, because based on my experience I can’t understand them.

They made the food fresh, so the chef was able to make me something I could eat despite my being vegetarian and dairy intolerant. There were gluten-free choices on the menu, but none that suited all my needs. The atmosphere was lovely, and everyone was so accommodating. We’ll definitely come back, and I’d happily recommend the place. Well done to the whole team.

I came across this place in the Extra Mile guide and found it a great spot to stop for good food. There’s lots of room and seating, and the menu is appealing and thoughtfully put together. The town is beautiful, clean, and peaceful, with a pleasant, intelligent crowd about.

The room had a lovely quirky look, and the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed staying here. Dinner was delicious, and breakfast was just right.

The waitress was kind, friendly, and helpful, and the food was delicious. I went for dinner with a friend recently; we shared the “devil” pizza, then chose our own desserts. I had the dark chocolate torte, while my friend ordered the white chocolate pana cotta. I’d recommend eating here.
