A band was playing at the back, which made Sunday feel especially lovely. The pub sits in a beautiful country setting, the staff were attentive, and our food came out quickly. The roast was delicious, one of the best I’ve had in ages. I’ll definitely be back.

The beer garden is somewhere I’m looking forward to using with the youngsters when the weather gets better. The food and beer have been consistently good ever since I first brought Mum here last summer for an exceptional meal. Since then, I’ve returned many times with my large family, and it’s just as delicious when it’s only my wife and me. There’s plenty to eat, especially with the Sunday roast vegetables. The London Pride is easily the best I’ve tried in east kent, and the Hawkestone larger is excellent too. Sarah, the owner, always tries to fit us in, even at short notice, and the staff are friendly and happy to help. We’ve had parties of 8+ as well as smaller visits. A lovely country pub, and well worth a visit. Peter Laslett

Mum was unwell and couldn’t make the 80th birthday party, so we’ll have to come back and treat her to lunch. The pub made our celebration feel special, and the meal was outstanding. The beef was tender and full of flavour, and the pork was just as good. We loved the crisp roast potatoes, plenty of vegetables, cauliflower cheese just like I’d make it, and those great Yorkshire puds. The prawn cocktails were packed with prawns too. They’d already been kind to us the day before, when I dropped off the cake and lost my car keys down a street drain. They rescued them, what heroes! We were made so welcome. It’s rare to find a pub serving food this good, and I can’t thank them enough for making the occasion special.

We had a wonderful evening, and the food was superb. The chefs are first class, and all the staff were accommodating and attentive to our needs. We also stayed overnight in a lovely, very clean and spacious room with facilities. Thank you, Sarah xx

We stopped by the Red Lion in Stodmarch yesterday and felt welcome straight away. The staff were fantastic, and we had a lovely meal cooked via our Grandaughter. It was brilliant, and we couldn’t have asked for better food.
