Number One Hundred B&B

There are lots of places to eat and drink just a few minutes away, and The Four Elms is a great pub. The rooms and the preordered breakfast are excellent value, with very clean facilities and plenty of fresh linen from the maid if you need it. We were in room 6 on the top floor, so there was no lift. It was small but nice, though the dormer window didn't offer a good view. Parking was okay, but I didn't feel comfortable leaving my car there because there were signs that other cars had been broken into. That's the only reason I took off a star for location.

It's just a short walk into the town centre, and the location worked perfectly. Our room was quiet, very clean and comfortable, with a nice TV. Breakfast was fine, though after five days the same thing each morning got repetitive. The staff were friendly, responsive, and communicated really well.

The room was nicely decorated and the bed was comfortable, and the location was great. But there was a very strong smell of plug-in air freshener in the hallway that came through into the room, even with the door shut and both windows open. Olbas oil didn't cover it either. It's unpleasant if you're sensitive to smells, and I couldn't stay here again. To the owner: even switching it off overnight and opening the windows didn't sort out how strong the smell was.

The self check-in was easy and smooth, which I really appreciated as I'm Autistic. We felt welcome and enjoyed our anniversary weekend. The room was lovely, breakfast was nice and simple, and we found a street parking spot about 20 yards away without trouble. The location was good, around a 20-minute walk to central Cardiff, with a good pub just around the corner. We'd definitely stay again.
