The room was very basic and in need of an update. The chair back was broken, and I was surprised it could even hold the towels. There was a crack in the window, faded patches on the carpet, and thin walls that let noise through from other rooms. The two good things were the friendly woman who greeted us and the nice shared bathroom. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

For 80 quid, I got a decent night's sleep in this cheap accommodation in the capital. The building looks stunning from outside, as do the houses around it. Inside, it felt a little run down, but I couldn't really complain. The showers kept a steady temperature. I'd definitely stay again if I was out having a bit of a jolly with the lads.

The manager was very friendly and found us somewhere else to stay at another guest house, which I appreciated. We'd booked Maggie Jones guest house for 15 March 2019, but the room we got seemed to be in the attic. It was cold, draughty and unwelcoming. The facilities were dated and damaged. The leather sofa bed was ripped in several places, and the chipped, tatty bedroom furniture looked like it might have come from the 70s. The room wasn't clean enough either. There were pubic hairs in the toilet and sink, pizza smeared on the wall, and cake all over the coat peg, as if previous guests had had a food fight. The kettle was covered in limescale, and the spare blankets were old, itchy nylon ones, also like something from the 70s.

The bed was comfortable, and I slept well. After ringing the bell, we waited for a very polite lady to come over from another property. We accidentally handed over £10 extra in cash, as payment was cash only. When we queried it later, they denied receiving it, so it was our word against theirs. The window wouldn't close or lock, which didn't feel safe when alone in a room. The Wi-Fi password was downstairs in the living area, not in the room. The toilet was noisy, the shower dripped, and the toilet door lock was broken, so we had to wedge it with a doorstop. There were no hot or cold signs on the taps, which could be dangerous for small children.

The room wasn't very clean, and the bathroom door was hanging off. The extractor fan was thick with grime. We were sent out to get cash for the room before we could have the key, and the nearest cashpoint was a 10-minute walk away. It was pouring, so we got pretty soaked.
