We were on a special train tour and arrived late, so the location right by the station was spot on. The staff were attentive, and the paid breakfast was very tasty. But the room didn't feel worth the price, with tired details everywhere: threadbare carpet in the corner, awful paint on the window frame, and a very dated bathroom. A glass shelf over the sink made it hard to lower your head to brush your teeth without hitting it. The double bed was pushed against one wall, and the new plugs were probably the most expensive part of the room. The lift didn't work either. Sorry, I wouldn't stay again.

Parking was a nightmare, though the hotel was just outside the train station. The people in Carlyle were very friendly, and it was a great place to visit. The room was small but clean and tidy, with a shower and comfortable bed. I didn't like the pillows. Staff were helpful and friendly, and breakfast was okay with a good selection. The bar had happy hours, too. We had a wowcher deal that included a bottle of wine and late checkout at 1pm. I'd stay again.

For a very reasonable price, this is perfectly okay accommodation in a great spot right next to the station. Our room slept three and was spacious and clean, though pretty basic. The staff were the best part, super friendly and helpful. Can recommend.

The central location was fantastic, and the staff were so welcoming and friendly. Our rooms were clean and tidy, though they could perhaps use a little updating. We were quite happy with our stay, and breakfast was fantastic with lots of variety. I'd definitely recommend it for a short break.

The location is hard to beat, especially if you're arriving by train to start the Cumbria Way. The welcome was friendly and they were happy to accommodate an early arrival. Rooms are a bit past their best, though fine for the price, and breakfast was easy but short on variety. If you have time, you might want to look elsewhere.
