The food was really good, from a very tasty dinner cooked by the chef to a spot-on breakfast. We were welcomed warmly on arrival, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout. The room was a good size and everything worked as it should. The decor isn’t like a top hotel in a big city, but that didn’t bother me. It’s a classic English country pub and hotel with its own 1970s charm. I’d stay again.

I brought my two children and our dog, and we all felt very welcome. Nothing seemed like too much trouble. Our room was spacious and homely, with really comfortable beds. Breakfast was great too, especially the omelette, which was the best I’ve ever had. We’ll definitely stay again.

We spent two nights here and found it warm, clean and friendly. The staff were happy to cater to what we needed, including vegetarian food and a dog-friendly room. Both the breakfasts and evening meals were generous, filling and beautifully cooked. Sitting afterwards with a drink by the log burner was lovely. We’ll definitely come back.

We needed a room at the last minute, so we walked in and were given a discounted rate because we’d be leaving before breakfast. I also asked about dinner, and they said we could order if we chose straight away. We went for the belly pork special and a nice bottle of red. The pork was delicious and cooked really well, with mash and excellent crackling. The room was great too, with a comfy bed, balcony, big telly and a nice bathroom. I hadn’t heard of the place before, but it’s ideally located if you have an early flight from Carlisle Airport. Glad we stopped.

We only stopped for one night on our way home, but I’ll definitely stay again. The rooms are large and comfortable, and the service was excellent. Breakfast is a proper one, with decent portions and plenty of coffee and fruit juice. Great place to stay.
