The Stables at The Black Horse

I loved staying here and will definitely book again. The staff were amazing, super friendly, open to suggestions, and helped with any enquiries I had. The breakfast was a cute bag of goodies. My room was so comfortable I didn’t want to get out of bed, and the shower was amazing. Everything was clean and stocked with what I needed. There was a mini fridge for keeping drinks cold and a big TV that kept me entertained throughout my stay.

The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable, with tea, coffee, and a kettle provided. The lady in charge was very helpful, but the rest was disappointing. It was really cold, with only one small radiator, and the bathroom floor was so cold too. The bed was a small double with a small quilt. There was no hairdryer, iron, or ironing board, and the facilities were poor. Breakfast was crap, just a paper bag of biscuits and a few other flour-based things. I expected a full English when I booked, and was totally disappointed by the lack of decent food. There’s no restaurant or food served in the pub below. It might be nice in spring or summer, but in winter I’d choose a decent hotel. It costs the same, but a hotel is 100% warmer.

The pub dog was friendly and loved a cuddle. Staff were brilliant, so helpful and friendly, and we were allowed to have a takeaway in the pub since they don’t serve evening meals. They offered plates, cutlery, and condiments. The rooms were nice and a good size, though the bed was small. It’s a good location for riding.

We came for one night because of a wedding nearby, and Claire, the lovely lady I believe was the manager, couldn’t do enough for us. The rooms were modern, fresh, and clean. It’s a fantastic pub and an absolute gem of a place. Thanks again, Claire, what a star. Highly recommend.
