The Station Hotel

The meal was fabulous, with every course carefully thought through, and it made for a great dining experience in the Moray area. We had dinner here recently for a special occasion and had a wonderful night. Jacob and his colleagues looked after us from the moment we walked in. We started with drinks in the Whisky Lounge before going through to the Restaurant. The Hotel is beautifully decorated throughout. I haven't seen the rooms, but I'm sure they're just as lovely. Already looking forward to our next visit.

The gluten-free treats for our guest seemed like basic shop-bought substitutes, rather than anything freshly made. The jam was more like a thin coulis, and the desserts were bland and too heavy on chocolate. I used a gift voucher from a family member to bring my daughters and niece for Afternoon Tea, but the food was disappointing. The sandwich selection lacked flavour. The salmon didn't seem fresh, and onion overwhelmed the cheese savoury. For the price, we expected much better quality.

The whisky bar was the highlight of our stay, especially thanks to Carys, the bar manager. She took the time to find out what we liked and led us through a great range of drams, including whiskies we might not have come across ourselves. Her suggestions were spot-on, and her engaging conversation made for many happy hours. She has an encyclopaedic knowledge of whisky and a real enthusiasm for sharing it, along with a lovely warmth and hospitality. The rooms were spotless, well kept and comfortable after days exploring the Speyside region. From our arrival, the staff were friendly and welcoming, and the whole team clearly takes pride in the guest experience. We recently stayed at The Station Hotel in Rothes, and it exceeded our expectations. Whether you're into whisky or simply want a characterful hotel in the heart of Speyside with outstanding service, I'd recommend it.

The staff are super friendly and the rooms are well appointed. It's a great hotel. Some rooms facing the main road could be a little noisy, I imagine, which might bother some people.
