Pentonbridge Inn

Our stay at Pentonbridge Inn was probably the best hotel stopover I can remember in years. From the welcome at reception until we left, everything felt classy. The rooms, staff and service were all exceptionally good, and the food was wonderful too. It’s easy to see why the inn gets so many excellent reviews. Well done to the whole team at Pentonbridge Inn.

We’d come to Gretna for a family wedding and arrived a day early, so we wanted an evening together. Pentonbridge Inn was only a short drive away. The staff were attentive from the moment we arrived to the time we left, checking that we were enjoying ourselves. The tasting menu was incredible. I’ve tried a couple at other Michelin star restaurants, and some of these dishes were even better than I expected. The savoury custard with fresh peas was an unexpected combination, but absolutely delicious. A really enjoyable visit, and I’d highly recommend it.

The cooking was outstanding, and our dinner came close to perfection. Every staff member was kind, professional and knowledgeable, and they made us laugh a few times too. We’d had a run of disappointing high-end meals lately, but this visit reminded us how joyful food and cooking at that level can be. Just brilliant.

The next morning’s breakfast was delicious, with fresh, high-quality choices. That granola, OMG. The Michelin-starred dinner was the highlight, with every course balancing creativity and flavour and making great use of local ingredients. The wine pairings were chosen so well that they lifted each dish further. From the warm, attentive welcome onwards, we felt completely looked after. Pentonbridge Inn is elegant but cosy, with thoughtful details that made us feel at home. We left already planning another visit. A real gem for comfort, luxury and wonderful food. Highly recommended!
