The Sally

The food was really nice, but our Sunday dinner took a long time. Two courses stretched beyond 2.5 hours, and we had to ask twice before the forgotten desserts finally came. The place didn’t seem short-staffed, so it felt more like a time-management problem with some servers. I’d go again if things improved.

We had a brilliant Sunday lunch, with excellent service. It was good to see the place bustling, it’s a real gem. We’ll definitely be back, and much sooner next time!

The staff were polite and professional, and there were two well-kept hand-pulled ales, including Black Sheep. It’s pricier than the other nearby pubs. This doesn’t seem to be mainly a pub, more a place for walkers and people coming to eat. There’s an impressive church nearby, along with the remains of a motte, though it’s inaccessible as it’s on private land.

The food was to a high standard, service was great, and breakfast covered the basics with a full English or muesli. Our room was smaller than the others we’d stayed in on holiday, but it was well furnished and had a modern bathroom, which made up for it. The road was quiet overnight, with no traffic. Worth a visit.
