96 @ Pine Lake

We had wildlife right on our doorstep, and staff were very helpful. The lodges were amazing, with plenty of space, and our cabin sat right on the lake. Towels and clean bedding were provided, with extras available if needed. There’s a very small shop on site and a lovely leisure centre. We self-catered, with two big supermarkets in Carnforth just 10 minutes down the road. We’ll definitely be going again.

The cabins were very well looked after, with a great lake view and walking spots nearby. Crazy golf was good fun and free to use. The arcade was okay, though some slot machines were blocked and some on the racing game weren’t working. The pool was fine, but you have to book a time. The jacuzzi was okay, though you can’t sit in it when the bubbles aren’t working. The pool was closed on our last day, so we couldn’t use it. We didn’t try the tennis court, ping pong or gym, but they looked fine. We stayed four nights, so the apartment was serviced on day three. They changed the toilet paper, gave us fresh towels and emptied the bin. It would have helped if they’d made the bed or taken the recycling, which was starting to pile up, but that’s a minor improvement. The bathroom door handle was faulty, so you couldn’t open it from inside. Luckily there were two of us, so one could let the other out. We reported it.

The wildlife at night was wonderful to watch, and I can see why dogs aren’t allowed, mine would probably have scared some of it away. The lodge was spacious, spotless and had a fantastic view across the lake. Since I struggle with walking and often trip, I felt very safe there because there was nothing for me to catch my feet on. Everyone was so helpful, and nothing seemed like too much trouble. We didn’t try the bar or restaurant this time, but this was our first visit and definitely won’t be our last. I think we’ll be back a few times.

We only had two nights, so didn’t get to use the pool, sauna, watersports, mini-golf or other activities, but there was plenty on offer. The resort also has a restaurant, little shop for snacks and a games room. Our studio at Pine Lake Resort was clean and roomy for two, with the things we needed, including a kitchenette, microwave and a nice filter coffee pot. The furniture did feel a bit caravan-y, as others have said, though it was comfortable enough. Staff were friendly and helpful, and it’s a handy base for the Lake District. We fitted in Arnside and Grange-over-sands during our short stay. A lovely place for a weekend break.
