Lorna and Dave, along with their dogs Muppet and Mayhem, make you feel at home straight away. They’re a lovely couple, easy to chat with and clearly care about what they do. The rooms are comfortable and practical, and good value. Breakfast is delicious, served by a lovely, attentive lady who starts the day on a cheerful note. The barman is brilliant too, friendly and quick to make sure everyone’s looked after. The food is excellent, well cooked and full of flavour. A little more variety in the potato dishes might be nice, but it’s a minor thing. It’s genuinely dog-friendly: my usually nervous dog relaxed, and by the second night was giving Lorna a nose press. A wonderful place that shows a country pub can still have heart.

What a lovely find. Such a welcoming place with loads of character, and the food was lovely. Well worth a visit.

The food came quickly and was tasty, and there’s a decent range of drinks. The menu is quite large, though everything seemed to cost £18.95, which felt a bit pricey. My Guinness sausage and mash with gravy came with a very small portion of mash, while the others we were with got decent portions, so serving sizes were a bit haphazard. It’s a traditional, old-world pub in a stunning location, with nothing fancy about it. The staff were lovely and friendly. It’s very, very dog-friendly, with a constant stream of people bringing dogs through the entrance, so bear that in mind if you don’t like dogs.

The Inn is traditional, well maintained and well equipped, with a range of accommodation and communal areas including the bar, restaurant and lounge. The husband and wife who run it were warm and attentive, and the chef or chefs added to the good service with home-cooked food. It’s well located for trips to Sedbergh and the Lakes.
