The brown, peaty water was a little off putting. Even the drinking water had a slight brown tinge, though it was treated and apparently quite safe, and tasted fine. A shower leak also put one of the three showers out of action during our stay. The owner handled the situation as well as could be expected. The cottage is superbly located in the Yorkshire Dales, with plenty of space, a large well equipped kitchen, a good dining room and a comfortable upstairs living room. Our group had mixed opinions about the very deep sofas. Bedrooms and bathrooms were generally fine.

We were lucky with the weather, which really showed off how beautiful the place is. There are some nice walks nearby, and it's close to everything you'd need. The pub down the road isn't reliable, so keep that in mind. I was there with my family, and it was excellent value for money. The host was nice and we had some good chats. We had an amazing time and would love to return. It's a gorgeous place and a great base if you're in the area for a few days. Highly recommended.

The owner lives next door and couldn't be friendlier. This lovely house in Cowgill has plenty of walks nearby and is close to Ribble head viaduct. It's well appointed, with useful things like condiments and loo paper, plus plenty of towels and crockery. There's a washing machine but no dryer or outdoor clothes line. The beds are small but comfortable. The garden is a nice enclosed space for our dog, though it's steep and full of nettles, so not suitable for young children. It's a sheep farm, so there are lots of flies. The stream water is slightly coloured and may put some people off, but it's tested, safe, tastes delicious, and you can swim in the stream. We'd definitely recommend it.

A very nice cottage with good fixtures. The water is brown, but I guess that's country living. A four slice toaster and a second kettle would have been useful.

Loved our stay. The accommodation was excellent, the location gorgeous, and we had a fabulous week.
