We were welcomed by Emma, who was friendly, and found the cottage spotless with a modern, well-equipped kitchen. The lounge and kitchen windows look out over amazing views, and the quiet setting makes it a lovely place to unwind. It’s compact but cleverly laid out, so it feels bigger than it is. There’s room for two adults and two children, and the twin room could also suit two adults. A handy base for the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales National Park. We’d happily return to Hawkrigg Cottage.

The house was comfortable and very clean, and those spectacular views made our week here even better. We’d stay again.
