Sunnycote

The alarm trouble began on Sunday morning during our Friday-to-Monday stay. It was wired through the house, so when one unit sounded, they all did. We could silence it only by pressing the button on the top-floor alarm, but it had a fault and started up again every ten minutes. It was unbearably loud, so we went outside and contacted the owner. She said she'd deal with it on her lunch break, which wasn't ideal, but we waited. When we came back around 3pm, it was still blaring and audible down the street. We messaged again to say we couldn't stay if it continued, but got no reply. There was no way to remain in the house, let alone sleep, so we had to leave. What followed dragged on for weeks. At first she ignored us, then claimed the alarm hadn't sounded and said the fire service had reported smelling smoke. It felt like an attempt to blame us for smoking, although none of us smoke or ever have. She then avoided our calls and messages, as did Sykes, who we booked through. Sykes were very little help too. The stay had started well, but the owner has been dishonest and taken money from us dishonestly. That tells you enough. Avoid this property. If she responds with more claims or threats, I have proof, including alarm recordings and call logs.
