Our walking group had a fab pub lunch here. The staff were friendly and the lunches were great. For under £10, you can get sandwiches with chips, nice homemade ones, salad and coleslaw. The jacket potatoes were tasty too and about the same price. This is our pub of choice in Castle Cary now.

The food was tasty and the portions were generous. We all enjoyed our dinners, and most plates were clean afterwards. It would have been nice if there’d been some music, and the room was a little chilly. We came for dinner and had a lovely time.

We came across this place while in town for the carnival. There were 14 of us, and although they were already busy, the staff welcomed us warmly and found room for us. Lovely food in a beautiful building. We’d definitely go back. Thanks.

I had fish and chips while visiting my mum during twixmas. The chips were pale, soggy and could have been cooked longer. The fish had an odd taint to it. I’m not sure what it was, and it didn’t seem to be cod, which I prefer. It may have been a flatfish, perhaps plaice, though I should have asked. For the price, I wasn’t impressed, and we skipped pudding because it seemed expensive. I don’t know if I’d go back.

Met up with an old work friend at the George. The staff were lovely and friendly, and the steak and stilton sandwich with salad and chips was excellent value. Hope to return to this lovely pub restaurant soon.
