The strong urine smell was obvious to our dogs, who kept sniffing the carpets and beds, and there were questionable marks on the beds, headboards and filthy sofas. The dirt looked old and ingrained. Several rooms and the long corridor had a pungent smell, too. We'd driven for hours to spend Christmas here, but my large family, spanning three generations, were appalled by the state of the place. Nobody felt comfortable sleeping in those beds, so we left without staying a single night. It completely spoiled what was meant to be a lovely family gathering. After a lot of back and forth with the booking company, we did eventually get a full refund for our 5-day booking. The place was run down, neglected and downright filthy. Food residue, mud and debris were scattered around the entrance. Inside, there was a musty smell from old, worn furniture. The kitchen was old and greasy, with some doors missing. Chairs had food on them, the tablecloth was sticky and covered in dust and crumbs, and the large, worn bathrooms had debris on the floors and seemed poorly cleaned. A complete disappointment. I don't understand the positive reviews.

The cottage had everything we needed, and the surroundings were stunning. We had such a lovely stay and felt really well looked after. Our hosts were wonderful and so helpful. Thanks for having us, we'd love to come back!

The late checkout wasn't ideal for us. Anyone who gets up late could use more time to get ready to leave. We had a comfortable stay with the family, though, and the cinema room was a nice feature. A newer projector would make it better.

We had a lovely, peaceful Christmas and New Year here, and Victoria made us feel very welcome. She was so helpful and accommodating. Shopping can be delivered from local supermarkets, which made the stay easier, and the beaches are about a 40-minute drive away. There was plenty of room for all 8 adults and 7 children, aged 3-13, and we never felt crowded. The cinema room gave us even more space. Bedrooms were all a good size, with lots of different bed options, including futons and bunks. There were enough toilets and showers that no one had to wait. The kitchen and lounge were spacious, and the kitchen had all the equipment we needed, plus a dishwasher, washing machine, and large fridge and freezer. It's a beautiful, quiet location. A perfect house for a big family group, and we'd definitely come back.

A great base for a big group. We had what we needed to cook for ourselves and spend time socialising with friends.
