There’s a real sense of being at peace with nature here. We spotted birds, red squirrels, bunnies and a fox in the garden, and the setting is beautiful and tranquil. The rooms have sweet themes, and the house is set up in a convenient, eco friendly way that feels very well thought out. It’s also well placed for exploring the surrounding area. In town, the in-house chocolates are worth a try, and the nearby bakery does delicious sausage rolls. Mossyard beach was a lovely spot nearby, and we also visited the aviation museum in Dunfries.

You can swim or fish in the loch, listen to the birds, talk to the animals and see the stars in the dark sky park. It’s a place where nature is all you can see and hear. The wildlife, magnificent and varied views, and beautiful setting in southern Scotland made this a magical, relaxing holiday and retreat. A wonderful haven, and the perfect place to stay.

I came across this place by chance while looking for somewhere else. It’s secluded and quiet, yet only a short drive fro. Castle Douglas. There’s lots of wildlife and plenty of walks nearby.

The surroundings are beautiful, but the property needs some significant improvements. At its current state it felt overpriced. When we arrived, we even wondered if we’d taken the wrong road...
