Hillyard House

We booked dinner for the evening and it was the highlight of our stay. Every course was very tasty, and the price was reasonable. The rooms were clean and well equipped, and the staff were helpful and courteous. Three of us stayed one night last week while walking in the Mournes. It was our first time at Hillyard House Hotel, and we had a great stay.

Dinner’s beef brisket was a real highlight, and breakfast had a great range of options. All the staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our visit. Our room was modern, spotless, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. This hidden gem sits right by Castlewellan Forest Park. We had a fantastic time and will definitely be back soon!

The bedroom and bathroom were spotless, and breakfast cooked to order was a real plus. There’s a cosy bar and a bright, modern dining area, with very friendly staff. This lovely boutique hotel is right by the gates of the Park in Castlewellan. I think it deserves a four star rating. I’ve stayed in other four star hotels that weren’t nearly as nice. I’d definitely return.

The evening meal was very good, especially the tasty sauces with the starter and main, and our cooked breakfast was lovely. The staff were extremely friendly, particularly Catriona in the restaurant and David in the bar. My wife and I stayed here for the first time this week and had a very nice visit. Our room was small but comfortable, clean and nicely decorated. The price for one night with bed, breakfast and dinner was very competitive. We’ll certainly come back to enjoy the hospitality again.
