Ye Olde Crown

The staff were great when we came in for a meal with a large group. The food was lovely and very reasonably priced, and we all had a lovely evening.

The pub has a lovely, warm and friendly feel to it. We had a gorgeous Sunday lunch there earlier.

The room was spacious, clean and had everything we needed. We stayed for one night after visiting Churnet Valley Railway, and Tracey, the lady behind the bar, was a lovely host with friendly, polite service. There wasn't any food available, though there's a convenience store a few doors away. We'd stay again.

Many of us barely slept after this. We were there as part of a wedding party, and when one couple returned, they couldn't get into their room because entry is by code rather than key. They hadn't received a code and weren't at fault. The owner said it had been sent, but couldn't provide proof when asked. We tried to reach the owner or management without success, and it seems nobody is available on site or by phone when something goes wrong. The couple managed to get back to the wedding venue down the road, luckily, but I dread to think what might have happened if the guests had been more vulnerable. They'd been locked out, and before we got back ourselves, they had to knock on doors to wake us and ask for help. DO NOT STAY HERE.
