Ring O'bells

We stopped in for lunch and loved the food and friendly welcome so much that we came back for tea. We both chose dishes from the specials board the second time and enjoyed them just as much. Great people and a great pub. Highly recommend.

The young man serving us was polite and professional, but the rest of the visit left us disappointed. We’d come in spontaneously one evening for a light meal and ordered a few starters to share. The food seemed cheap and fried, and nothing tasted fresh or homemade. One dish was inedible to me, and when I said so, I was brushed off with, “oh well, obviously not for you then.” A simple apology would have made a difference. The ice cream tasted cheap too, which added to the feeling that not much care had gone into the ingredients. Basic manners and good quality food really matter if you want people to come back. It was a bad call to eat here, and we left disappointed.

We were four and everyone enjoyed their meal. I had the steak and kidney pudding, while our companions chose liver and bacon, and ham, eggs and chips. The portions were generous, the beer was excellent, and service was good. A great experience in a proper pub, with reasonable prices.

Good choice of local beers, generous portions and really good pies.
