Cosy atmosphere and great service. The lamb shoulder croquettes and salmon were fantastic, and every dish tasted amazing. The food was beautifully presented, almost Michelin star standard. Very pleased with everything.

After our New Year’s walk on Saturday, 17 of us had lunch here. The staff were so friendly, helpful and accommodating, even with seven children in our group. The food was delicious, and being able to relax together with such warm hospitality really made the day.

We came over the moors from Tavistock for Sunday lunch. We often visit the pub when we’re around Chagford, though it had been a while since we’d had a roast here. My husband chose the local lamb and I had the nut roast. Both were hot, tasty, fresh and clearly homemade, and beautifully presented. The apple and blackcurrant crumble with custard was absolutely delicious. There is a bit of a wait, but it’s worth it for food this good, and the service was excellent. We can’t comment on the rooms.

We booked for 14 for Sunday lunch the day before, and they were very helpful in fitting us all in. The roast was amazing and really filling. Loved the warm welcome and atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

Popped in for an unplanned lunch. I had the venison stew with mash and a huge sticky toffee pudding, and my partner had apple pie. It took a while as everything’s cooked to order, but it was worth waiting for.
