I've long been fond of The Ship and have often recommended it, but I won't be going back after Saturday 7th March. I went with my wife for lunch and a drink, and chose the chicken option from the special board's chicken or prawn chorizo paella with a warm baguette. What arrived was flavoured rice, much like the packet kind, with a sliced chicken breast on top and no chorizo. I was very disappointed. It should have been described as chicken breast slices and packet rice. I'd advise people to eat elsewhere or avoid ordering from the specials.

Before our theatre trip, we stopped in for a meal. The food was plentiful and high quality. One complaint, the door on one of the ladies' loos wasn't working, so there was a queue.

I stayed in the area for a long weekend a few weeks ago, and the same girl served me in the pub on Friday night and on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. She was so lovely, warm and chatty, and made me feel at home. Best bar service I've ever had in a pub, full marks. I'd recommend it just for how friendly and empathetic she was.

Really comfortable beds and good food, and the stay was great. The old man couldn't get BBC 1 this morning for the football highlights 🤣🤣. Apart from that, we'll definitely be back.
