Brookside

The hotel itself was very good: attentive, welcoming staff and mostly spotless rooms. Our shower needed cleaning, but that didn't affect the stay. It's conveniently placed for amenities, and I originally planned to return with the children. I wrote that review before checkout. At checkout, ten people described as having been dropped off by coach from Sweden at 5am were asleep, spread across the reception chairs. I told the desk staff member I'd left a review, but the scene didn't look good to prospective customers and lowered the tone the hotel seemed to be aiming for. They didn't look Swedish to me, more Eastern European in appearance, with mid-tone skin and black hair. I don't mean to cast aspersions, but seeing a large group sprawled across reception felt low-class and borderline intimidating. It was unfortunate timing, and showed how one incident can change someone's overall view of a stay. I won't return now. Still, the hotel and staff were very professional and very good, and this was probably a one-off, so please don't be put off by my experience.
