The marina was beautiful, peaceful and lovely. We stayed in a floating pod that was compact, clean and comfortable, with a great outdoor seating spot and bistro table and chairs. The ducks were very friendly and curious, and I had to persuade a few of them not to come inside.

Our floating pod was toasty warm, clean and had everything we needed, including tea and coffee, board games and a really comfy bed. The outdoor seating was a lovely extra, though the rain meant we couldn’t use it. We also had a couple of drinks at the restaurant, where the staff were friendly and the prices very reasonable. Thanks, team Marina, for a wonderful stay!

We’d never hired a day boat before, and the two of us are 62-year-old women, but the staff made us feel really welcome from the moment we arrived at 8am. We had coffee and worked through the paperwork together. The marina was lovely and the facilities immaculate. At the boat, everything was shown and explained to us. We took it out under instruction, which was reassuring. Once we felt confident, the staff got off, showed us how to tie up, and explained two route options. There are no locks on the day hire. We went along the canal towards the Cheshire Cat at a leisurely pace and enjoyed seeing life on the water. A couple of times we got stuck in the mud by the bank while letting other boats pass, but we sorted it out. Everyone we passed said hello, which was nice. We’d definitely recommend hiring a day boat from Tattenhall Marina. We’ll be back to take the route towards Beeston Castle.

Oliver gave us good instruction and made sure I felt confident taking the helm before we set off. We had a peaceful half-day on the narrowboat, drifting along the canal. I’d definitely do it again and recommend giving it a go.

We stayed in Osprey in October 2023, and the place was quiet and well looked after. The accommodation is modern and laid out well, with your own parking spot, towels and all the utensils and plates you need. There’s a TV if you want one, and the swans and ducks make great neighbours 😀👍. The cafe is very close, and we enjoyed both dinner and breakfast there. The food was great and the staff excellent. The marina manager, whose name I’m sorry I’ve forgotten, was friendly and professional. There are walks nearby, an ice cream factory, and the Chester park and ride is about 15 minutes away. I’d highly recommend it for something a bit different.
